Upcoming Events

November Story Times: Join us at 10:30 am on Wednesday, November 30th to read, rhyme, and sing together! We’ll meet in the Story Time Room. Registration requested.

Growing Up in Westbrook and CT: A Tellebration Event: The Westbrook Public Library will host a Tellabration for adults on Wednesday, November 30th at 10:30 a.m. Arnie Pritchard will be telling a story based in CT History and will facilitate audience members in telling their own stories about life in Connecticut.  Registration is required.

Teen Advisory Board: Students in grades 6th-12th are invited to join this year’s TAB. These students will work with the Public Service Librarian to make the Westbrook Public Library a welcoming and fun place for teens and young adults, make recommendations for new library materials (books, video games, board games, and so on), and create new programming for students. The next Teen Advisory Board will meet on Thursday, December 1st at 6 pm (pizza and snacks are provided). Registration required.

Books & Barks (Open to All Ages): Tuesdays, December 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th, from 5:30-6:30 pm.  Read to Nelson, a Certified Therapy Dog! He is available to listen for approximately 15 minutes. He loves books! Registration is required. Click here to reserve your time with Nelson.

Story Time with Homeschoolers: On the first Wednesday of every month (the next one will meet on Wednesday, December 7th) at 11 am, we will read a story or two and complete a STEM-related learning activity. This program is intended for children ages 4-9 years old, but younger siblings are always welcome. Register here.

Research Skills for Pre-Teens and Teens: On the first Wednesday of every month (the next one will meet on Wednesday, December 7th) at 11 am, homeschool students will focus on learning a different library/research skill, such as locating materials in the library, finding reliable resources, and citing sources. Register here.

Books & Barks with Izzie (Children’s Program): Spend 15 minutes reading with Izzie, a young dog hoping to train with Guiding Eyes for the Blind on Thursday, December 8th. Izzie will be with available between 3:15-4:15 pm. Registration is required. Please stop by the Circulation Desk or call the Library for more information and to register.

Winter Wonderland Paper Crafts: On December 8th, from 4:30-5:30 pm, school-age children are invited to come and create special wintery crafts with Sharon Schoenberger. Space is limited, Registration required.

Cookbook Club: Like yummy food and chatting with nice people? Come join the Cookbook Club! Attendees bring a recipe of their choosing from the month’s selected cookbook. November’s Cookbook Club will be on Tuesday, December 13th at 5:00 pm – 6:15 pm and the cookbook is Dorie’s Cookies by Dorie Greenspan. Registration required. To register, ask at the Circulation Desk or call the Library.

Museum Passes: Looking to visit a museum, zoo, or park? Thanks to generous funding from the Friends of the Westbrook Public Library, Museum Passes are available.

Lew Daniels Technology Center is open by appointment. Ask the library staff if you have questions about making appointments for LDTC services.
